This Arizona copper mine operated a hydraulic roll crusher used to develop a larger prototype crusher. The hydraulic cylinder rods of the crusher would break near their connection to the clevis, this needed to be addressed prior to the development of prototype. ECRS/Metalock was brought in to measure the stress the components of the crusher underwent during operation. Using a Vishay 7000 strain data was collected at a frequency of 128Hz. Thirty-two channels were available for simultaneous sampling on various components of the crusher. These reading were used to address the cause of the component failures and are useful to the development of the new larger crusher for the mine.
